Abstract | This paper provides information about Minnesota's Graduation Required Assessments for Diploma (GRAD), comprehensive proficiency assessments of the skills and knowledge in mathematics, reading, and writing that are necessary for graduation. The Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments, Series II, into which the GRAD tests are embedded, measure competency on a larger set of Minnesota academic standards. The purpose of the exam is to determine the knowledge and skills of high school graduates relative to those needed for entry-level employment and to meet a state mandate.
