Abstract | The U.S. Department of Education's Higher Education Center for Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse and Violence Prevention publishes "Catalyst," a newsletter covering current Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse and Violence (AODV) prevention issues at institutions of higher education. "Catalyst" discusses emerging issues and highlights innovative efforts on campuses that may be helpful to other institutions of higher education. This issue of "Catalyst" concerns campus and community coalitions. Articles in this issue include: (1) Presidential Leadership: The Catalyst for Effective Prevention (William DeJong); (2) A Call for Values Congruence; (3) Q&A with Pat Leonard on the Importance of Senior Administrator Support for Prevention; (4) Governance and Prevention; and (5) The Network and Senior Administrators Support for Prevention--A Roundtable Discussion. This issue also includes a message from the Assistant Deputy Secretary for Safe and Drug-Free Schools and a list of resources for information on campus and community coalitions and related topics.
