Abstract | The U.S. Department of Education's Higher Education Center for Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse and Violence Prevention publishes "Catalyst," a newsletter covering current Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse and Violence (AODV) prevention issues at institutions of higher education. "Catalyst" discusses emerging issues and highlights innovative efforts on campuses that may be helpful to other institutions of higher education. This issue of "Catalyst" concerns diversity on campus. Articles in this issue include: (1) Diversity on Campus: Implications for Prevention; (2) Meeting the Prevention Needs of a Diverse Population; (3) Latinos: A Growing Presence on U.S. Campuses; (4) Q&A with Dolores Cimini; (5) Lessons from a Historically Black University--Elizabeth City State University (Anthony Brown and Beth DeRicco); and (6) College Prevention on the Run: Commuter Colleges Are Faced with Unique Challenges. Lists of related resources; and a message from the center director by Virginia Mackay-Smith are also included.
