Abstract | The U.S. Department of Education's Higher Education Center for Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse and Violence Prevention publishes "Catalyst," a newsletter covering current Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse and Violence (AODV) prevention issues at institutions of higher education. "Catalyst" discusses emerging issues and highlights innovative efforts on campuses that may be helpful to other institutions of higher education. This issue of "Catalyst" concerns campus law enforcement. Articles in this issue include: (1) Taking Law Enforcement Seriously in Colorado; (2) Getting House Parties Under Control; (3) Sidebar: A Model Social Host Liability Ordinance; (4) Change in a College Community: Lessons Learned from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign; and (5) Q&A with Steven Healy, Princeton University's Director of Public Safety and Chief of Police. Network Section articles include: (1) New Network Structure Builds on Old (Joan Masters and Carla Lapelle); and (2) Welcome New Network Members (new member institutions, September 1 to December 31, 2006). This issue also contains a Message from the Center Director (Virginia Mackay-Smith) and a list of resources on enforcing laws and policies. (ERIC). |
