Abstract | The purpose of this document is to twofold: First, it serves to summarize and record the content and comments from the presentations and breakout sessions during the Northeastern States NCLB/IDEA Invitational State Leadership Forum: Joining Forces: High Achievement For Each and Every Student, September 27-28, 2005. Secondly, it hopes to capture the spirit of the event, along with the passion and commitment of the presenters and participants. The forum brought together state leaders from general and special education to focus on how to improve results for all students, with a particular focus on students with disabilities. Keynote presentations were made by leaders from general and special education perspectives. Topical breakout sessions gave participants the opportunity to delve more deeply into specific issues. Presentations were made by schools that have demonstrated that they know how to do "what works" to bring all students to high standards. State team planning time provided an opportunity for interstate general and special education collaboration. Appended are: (1) Conference Agenda; (2) Participation Guide(s); (3) Participant List; (4) Issues, Changes, Actionable Strategies; (5) Letter of Invitation; and (6) Evaluation Summary. (ERIC). |
