Abstract | This document is a glossary of more than 750 terms, abbreviations, and acronyms that are likely to be found in recent Australian vocational education and training (VET) research and policy documents. The glossary also includes selected commonly found international terms. In those cases where a term has a broader general meaning, the definition presented refers to its use in the VET context. The following are among the categories of terms included: professional associations; public agencies; private organizations; nongovernmental organizations; programs targeting specific client groups; educational principles; educational theories; terms related to program delivery; terms related to program administration; specific pieces of national legislation; terms related to learning and learning theories; types and levels of VET; terms related to certification and accreditation; academic degrees and other credentials; advisory bodies; categories of VET students; tests and testing procedures; industry groups; terms related to forms of employment and employment practices; and terms related to the labor market and human resource development. The bibliography lists 49 publications and 64 World Wide Web sites that served as sources of information when the glossary was compiled. (MN) |
