Abstract | This paper describes general educational facility improvement planing principles and how factors peculiar to Massachusetts affect the planning process, including a description of the roles of the owner, architect, and other building professionals. Chapters examine the first steps in school planning, the role of the architect in preliminary planning, the school building assistance program, time requirements of the design process, Massachusetts law and how it affects design and construction, the successful completion of school construction, and the owner's representation and project management.
