Abstract	Following the EuroMAB meeting in Strasbourg, France (September 1991) and on an initiative of the Man and the Biosphere National Committee of the United States, a decision was made to create a research network from information available in biosphere reserves in 30 European countries, Canada and the United States. This Directory of EuroMAB Biosphere Reserves summarizes information on 175 biosphere reserves in these 32 counties. Its purpose is to direct the reader to sources of data and other information on the ongoing scientific activities in these biosphere reserves. The text of the directory is organized alphabetically by country and provides information on national contacts for biosphere reserves, names of the biosphere reserves, administrative units, administering entities, locations in latitude and longitude coordinates, area in hectares of the administrative units, biome and biogeographical provinces, years designated as a biosphere reserve, administrative officers and telephone numbers, and principal monitoring and research themes. A large tabular summary of the scientific databases, research topics, and available site support for research in EuroMAB biosphere reserves follows the directory text. For each country, a biosphere location map indicates the general location of the biosphere reserve. (LZ)
