Abstract | This document consists of descriptions of 50 projects that were selected as examples of good practice in providing relevant initial and continuing vocational training to women throughout the European Community regardless of their legal status, employment status, and geographic location. The projects are grouped under six key words (motivation, qualification, integration, equality, anticipation, support) representing the following core issues in promoting equal educational and employment opportunities for men and women: how to encourage women to take up training; how to (re)integrate women into the labor market; how to give women the confidence to take up jobs with responsibility or certain male-dominated jobs; how to anticipate change through training in the event of industrial restructuring; and what support measures to put in place. At least one program from each of the following countries is included: Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Greece, France, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. Each program description contains some or all of the following: training area; industry and/or community partners; funding source(s); target group; contact person; background information about the project's development; key components; attendance rate; and program outcomes. Appended is the text of the joint opinion of European Social Partners on women and training. (MN) |
