Abstract | This book serves as an introduction to issues of diversity. Each chapter addresses an issue relevant to life and work in gender-conscious and ethnically diverse environments. Taken together, the chapters challenge the reader to develop alternative views on gender, color, culture, and human relations. The first chapter introduces key notions, such as prejudice, discrimination, and the idea of "otherness." Other chapters present interrelated essays on the historical, economic, and cultural processes underlying racism.
