Abstract | The present study investigated the factor structure underlying responses to a measure of psychological type, the Personal Preferences Self-Description Questionnaire (PPSDQ). Measures of psychological type have been extremely useful in various applications, including career counseling and in assessing learning styles. Subjects were 422 university students. Confirmatory factor analyses were employed to evaluate model fit to the data. Factor parameters were in the expected direction and generally were several times their respective standard errors. The study thus provides some preliminary confirmatory factor analysis support for a conclusion that scores on the measure have some integrity. Results await corroboration across alternative analyses and confirmation in independent samples. Appendixes provide univariate summary statistics, and contain the correlation matrix. The PPSDQ is attached. (Contains 4 tables and 17 references.) (SLD) |
