AbstractThis two-part report contains an analyses conducted by the Council of Colleges, in Quebec, of proposed revisions to programs in Forestry Management and Theater Arts offered by the province's public colleges. First, the report considers existing and proposed forestry programs in terms of their relationship to the current practices in the forestry field; general characteristics of the revised program, including health and safety components; articulation with secondary training; and the implementation of the program. This section indicates that in 1990 three Colleges d'Enseignement Generale et Professionale (CEGEP's) offered Forestry Development programs, and another three offered Forestry Management programs enrolling a total of 350 students. Substantial judicial, economic, and industrial changes in the forestry industry, as well as changes in public attitudes toward the environment created an opportunity for the CEGEP's forestry programs to be revised and combined. The second section of the report presents the Council of Colleges' advice concerning the credibility and value of two proposed college theater arts programs designed to train theater professionals. First, the distinctions between the two programs are noted, indicating that one program is designed to prepare students to competently enter the field of acting, while the other provides specialized training in specific areas of theater. The remainder of the section considers the content of the existing and proposed programs, the relationship between specialized and general education courses, and the links between vocational training and cultural diversity. Lists of program objectives for the two theater arts programs are appended. (AC)
