Abstract | This compilation contains copies of the following library documents that presented recent cases for new space: (1) Excerpts from "Harnessing Technologies to Unleash Their Potential" and "Kelvin Smith Library. The Electronic Learning Environment--Transforming Access to Knowledge: A Program Statement" from Case Western University (Ohio); (2) "Future Growth of Collections: Publishing Trends and Electronic Information Storage" from the University of Florida; (3) "Factors to Consider in Evaluating Future Space and Storage Needs of the MU Libraries: A Library Patron's Perspective" and "Outline for Space Study for UM Library Directors and Presentation" from the University of Missouri, Columbia; (4) "The Future Ain't What It Used to Be--Information Management in the Nineties" from the University of Pennsylvania; (5) "Concept Document for an Addition to the Fondren Library" from Rice University (Texas); (6) "Library Addition Request: Summary of Building Program Planning Statement" from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale; and (7) "Libraries, Books, and Technology" from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The accompanying flyer addresses four common fallacies and presents strategies for the library of the future. (MES) |
