Abstract	This journal issue is devoted to the many problems faced by children with Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) who live in both developing and developed countries. Section 1 provides general information on the pandemic, defining AIDS and exploring the social aspects of the disease. It also addresses child health, child mortality, moral and ethical concerns, and the Catholic Church's response to the pandemic. Section 2 contains short articles that examine pediatric AIDS in Uganda, Africa as a whole, Nepal, Romania, France, Switzerland, Italy, and the United States, Section 3 contains articles on groups of children vulnerable to contracting AIDS in the Philippines, Brazil, Thailand, and Nepal. Section 4 focuses on children who are orphaned due to the AIDS pandemic in Uganda, Rwanda, Italy, Brazil, and the United States. Section 5 focuses on AIDS prevention programs in Zambia, the Philippines, Zimbabwe, Hong Kong, and Chile, along with those developed by international organizations. (MDM)
