Abstract	This report discusses the 1992 educational efforts of Maryland's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene relating to Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS). The state agency's strategy is coordinated by the AIDS Administration and is designed to educate key people--including designated trainers, health care providers, and peer leaders--who can assist in the task of ensuring that each Marylander understands how to protect himself or herself and others from the threat posed by further spread of the human immunodeficiency virus. Programs target populations which have been disproportionately impacted by the epidemic or whose behavior puts them at particular risk. The activities of several state agencies are described, including the Division of Public Education, Division of Youth Outreach, Division of Outreach to Special Populations, Division of Ethnic Community Programs, Division of Program Evaluation and Survey Research, Division of Professional Education, Division of Public Information, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Administration, Developmental Disabilities Administration, and Mental Hygiene Administration. Other initiatives are also highlighted, including the Dental AIDS Project, counseling and testing services, and work with local health departments. Four laws enacted in 1992 related to human immunodeficiency virus are noted. (JDD)
