| Abstract | The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is one of the most frequently used measures of personality. MBTI Form G and a self-descriptive adjectival checklist, the "Personal Preferences Self-Description Questionnaire" (PPSDQ), were administered to 191 college students. The four dimensions of personality measured by the MBTI are: Extraversion-Introversion; Sensing-iNtuiton; Thinking-Feeling; and finally, Judging-Perceiving. The purpose of our exploratory study was to evaluate whether the adjectival self-description checklist may provide a viable method of quickly obtaining initial type information. Data were analyzed by computing classical test theory reliability statistics and principal components analyses. Results are generally favorable regarding at least three of the four constructs presumed to be measured by the PPSDQ. Additional items must be formulated to tap the fourth dimension (Judging-Perceiving). Six tables and one figure are included. (Contains 17 references.) (Author/SLD) |
