Abstract	This publication is a biennial report that presents comprehensive data on higher education facilities staffing, maintenance, and operations. The data were collected in fall 1992 for the 1991-92 fiscal year and resulted in 502 usable surveys. A section of charts, graphs, and statistical reductions: (1) show institutional information; (2) describe the mean dollar cost per square foot of various institutional functions; (3) list the percentage of institutions that reported that the functional responsibility for each of the categories is contracted; (4) show the average number of full-time equivalent employees per institution for each job category; (5) show average annual salaries, exclusive of benefits, by job category; (6) cover the average hourly shop rate that institutions charge; (7) feature percentages of institutions that indicate job categories as unionized or provided by outside contractors; (8) present average utilities costs; (9) list average prices institutions paid for utilities; and (10) tally institutions responding to the survey. Indexes list all institutions in alphabetical order, cross-reference institutions according to classification code, list institution responses by state and country, and group public institutions by region and institution type. A final section contains tables of the "raw" data. (JB)
