Abstract | This paper examines several issues involved in collaborative research between a kindergarten teacher-researcher and a university professor as they developed an early childhood anti-bias curriculum. Literature on collaborative research in early childhood settings is reviewed, and the concept of anti-bias, culturally inclusive education is defined. The evolving collaboration between the teachers is described, and the benefits for both participants in the on-going collaborative project are discussed. Barriers encountered to both anti-bias pedagogy and teacher research in early childhood settings are also discussed. Finally, several recommendations are made concerning anti-bias approaches in early childhood education, research methodologies, and support structures which attempt to put early childhood educators at the center of the research process.
