Abstract	This 72-hour curriculum is designed to meet the needs of single parents and displaced homemakers who are in the process of planning a career that will enable them to be economically self-sufficient. Nontraditional career exploration and sex-role stereotyping in career choices are addressed in the curriculum, which is based on the Adult Career Development Competencies as taken from the National Career Development Guidelines. A list of competencies and indicators and the time allotted for each is included in the curriculum. The curriculum is organized around 11 competencies that center on three areas; (1) self-knowledge (developing a positive self-concept, maintaining effective behaviors, understanding developmental changes and transitions); (2) career exploration (participating in education and training, lifelong learning, changes in male/female roles, locating and evaluating career information, and how society influences the nature and structure of work); and (3) career planning (decision making, the impact of work on individual and family life, and career transitions).
