| Abstract | The essential skills in the dramatic arts for K-12 students as promulgated by the State of Arizona are presented. Three goals are identified for all students: (1) create drama through artistic collaboration; (2) form aesthetic judgments; and (3) relate dramatic arts and its significant works to its social and historical context. The ways in which these goals are to be met at the various grade levels (K-3, 4-6, 7-8, 9-12) are identified; the essential skills students need to develop are outlined; and suggestions for teachers in making student evaluations are put forth. Ongoing personal and interpersonal behaviors to be cultivated at all grade levels also are identified. A glossary of dramatic arts terms and a 92-item bibliography are included. (DB) |
