Abstract | These supplementary units are designed to help students with special needs learn and apply auto body repair skills. The material specifically supplements the Auto Body Repair Curriculum Guide (University of Missouri-Columbia 1988), and is intended for instructors serving the occupational needs of various categories of disadvantaged and handicapped students. The instructor key contains notes to the instructor, helpful resources, the Missouri auto body employability competencies matrix for the nine units, a rating sheet, class progress chart, and answer keys for the unit tests. Units contain illustrated step-by-step instructions for the specific auto body repair competencies they address. Each of the nine self-paced and self-contained units contains large print, simplified text, and numerous line drawings to aid in comprehension. Each unit consists of: an introduction; objectives study questions; student assessment; terms and equipment; steps of procedure; skill sheets; activity sheets; and a unit test and performance checklist. Topics covered in the nine units are the following: safety; jacking and lifting; welding; body fillers; surface preparation; sanding; primers and guidecoats; masking; and diagnosing and analyzing damage.
