| Abstract | This curriculum plan is submitted as a framework for developing educational programs at the Columbus Zoo Aquarium (CZA) for elementary school students in grades 3 through 6. It is intended to provide support and assistance to those involved with CZA programs. Major sections include: (1) "Review of Columbus Zoo's Educational Programs"; (2) "Identification of Educational Planning Needs" (including benefits of the aquarium); (3) "Educational Rationale and Philosophy for the Columbus Zoo Aquarium"; (4) "Goals and Objectives for Education at the Columbus Zoo Aquarium" (describing a four-level hierarchy of goals for environmental education curricula); (5) "Factors to Remember in Columbus Zoo Aquarium Educational Planning"; (6) "Audience Characteristics and Educational Needs"; (7)"Program Implementation Strategies"; (8) "Proposed Programs for Implementation" (providing four program units with audience, goals, objectives, a unit outline, and a field trip outline); (9) "Program Implementation Review"; (10) "Teacher Workshops"; and (11) "Program Evaluation" (including parameters for formative and summative evaluation).
