Abstract | A project analyzed, designed, developed, implemented, and evaluated a training program that would enable Trans World Airlines flight service managers to develop effective communication skills. The instructional systems design process was used throughout. The analysis identified the need for communication training for the target population. Program design involved determination of learning objectives and tasks and planning of learning activities. The learning activity was developed using Gagne's nine instructional events. Three field trials were conducted during spring 1988. Formative and summative evaluations were conducted and resulted in some changes in the course. (Appended to the 81-page narrative are project materials, including information on the flight service manager training program, project planning outline, post learning questionnaire, and posttest. The three sets of instructional materials for the communications skills training course that were developed and revised are also provided. Contents of these sets include the objective, materials list, content outline, the instructional materials, role-playing materials, and masters for a situation sheet and observer checklist.) (YLB) |
