| Abstract | This report provides a comprehensive picture of total federal financial support for education for fiscal years 1980 through 1988. Outlays were used in this report rather than obligations, with the exception of academic research at institutions of higher education. Federal support for education falls into three categories: on-budget support, off-budget support, and federal tax expenditures. This report also shows current and constant dollar comparisons, based on the composite deflator from the United States Office of Management and Budget. Nine text tables, three charts, and six detailed tables are included. (SI) |
