Abstract | The official curriculum for the second three years (seventh, eighth, and ninth grades) of the Manitoba Department of Education's nine-year core French language program is presented. The guide, intended for teachers, outlines the program's curriculum committee membership, program requirements, philosophy, objectives, content, recommended instructional materials, cultural emphases and rationale, reading, evaluations of reading texts, course organization, issues for teacher consideration concerning objectives and student language development, strategies for teaching verbs, and student evaluation information and materials for each year. Appended materials include the objectives, structures, and recommended materials for the program's first three years (grades 4-6), objectives for the last three years (grades 10-12), and a 32-page list of additional resources.
