| Abstract | This curriculum guide outlines three credits of study, one credit for each of the grade levels 10, 11, and 12. Intended as an optional study area, the program provides awareness and exploration for those students who aspire to postsecondary study and introduces skills to those who wish to explore trades and technologies in employment after school. Each level has core and option modules that offer flexibility. Introductory materials include an overview, information on implementation, and goals and objectives. Drafting 101 has 11 modules: student orientation and safety, drafting review, drafting equipment and practices, geometric application, sketching, drawing interpretation, multiview drawing, dimensioning, pictorial drawing, developments and intersections, and career exploration. Drafting 201 has nine modules: student orientation and safety, review, product design, mechanical drawings, building construction drawings, electrical/electronic drawings, piping/fluidic drawings, technical illustration/sales drawings, and geological/topographical drawings. Drafting 301 has seven modules: student orientation and safety, review, computers and drafting, product manufacturing drafting, architectural drafting, engineering drafting, and other drafting applications. Each module has these components: major objective, student objectives, teachers' notes and suggested activities, and suggested materials. A six-page bibliography is provided, as well as a list of 23 publishers, with addresses. (YLB) |
