Abstract | Over 175 activities are described for helping children with autism in the following areas: auditory development (discrimination and memory); concept development (body concept, body in space/direction, size, time, shapes, same/different, color, numbers); social development; speech and language development; and visual-motor integration. The purpose, difficulty level, and necessary materials for each activity are listed as are instructions on how to carry out each activity. A brief overview is provided on the characteristics of severe, moderate, and mild autism, tips for working with children who are autistic, and ways to use the activities in the book. (CB) |
