Abstract | This curriculum resource guide is intended to assist K-2 teachers in Georgia in using updated agriculture content for teaching basic information about the importance of agriculture. The materials included have been selected to reinforce the following points: that the agricultural system is historically significant, basic to human needs, interdependent with the environment, and interrelated with all other segments of society; that the system requires continual access to resources; and that agricultural production and distribution are globally interdependent. The materials are presented in an instructional unit format that includes instructional objectives, background information, appropriate resources, and primary as well as follow-up activities, and that makes lavish use of line drawings, map outlines, photographs, and other illustrative material. Gains in student knowledge may be measured by a pretest/posttest based on the factual information presented in the guide; a test for the K level and a test for grades 1-2 follow the lessons. A glossary and bibliography of materials for use with students in grades K-2 are also included. (MN) |
