AbstractThis document presents a statistical overview of each of the elementary, intermediate, junior high, special education, and high schools in the New York City Public School System. The publication contains a wide variety of 1980-81 school year data describing the individual school plant, pupil characteristics and achievement levels, and staff positions and costs. In addition to presenting information on individual schools, it also provides summaries of data for the schools city wide, by borough, and by school district. The Office of Student Information Services generated the data on physical facilities, pupil enrollment, ethnic composition, class size, promotions, ESEA Title I status, free lunch eligibility, norm aid to families with dependent children, attendance, admissions and departures, and standardized achievement test scores in reading and mathematics. Data relating to graduates, average class size, and number of instructional periods in the high schools came from the Division of High Schools. Computer systems developed by the Office of Student Information Services generated data on school staff positions and costs. (Author/RDN)
