AbstractDevelopment education, the process of sensitizing citizens of industrialized countries to the problems of the third world, and related issues of global development, has gained acceptance among educators in recent years. To respond to this global approach to development, a National Assembly ("Global Crossroads: Educating Americans for Responsible Choices") was convened in Washington, D.C. in May 1984. Educators attending the assembly explored ways to better educate Americans for constructive, peaceful, and responsible participation in this globally, interdependent world. This document provides the four major assembly "addresses." They are: (1) "Global Crossroads: Which Way to the 21st Century" (by Soedjatmoko); (2) "Working Towards Equity" (by Bradford Morse); (3) "The Crisis of the Human Condition: Women in Crisis" (by Lucille M. Mair); and (4) "Children and Crisis" (by James Grant). Also included are some United Nations resources on development education for teachers and descriptive statements on on-going development education activities in other countries. They are: "Development Education in Europe" by Jeanne Vickers and "Development Educaton in Canada and Japan" and "Development Education and the United Nations System" by Angus Archer. (JN)
