Abstract | This training model was designed to assist educational personnel and interested citizens in the implementation of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and the attainment of sex equity in education. The model was utilized and tested in 20 regional workshops by the Council of Chief State School Officers' Title IX Equity Workshops Project. Intended for use by the trainer, each of the five session outlines includes a lecture to introduce new concepts and activities that are designed to increase participants' understanding of particular problems related to sex equity and of the steps to be taken and the principles to be followed in achieving sex equity. Also included in each session are experiential activities, skills practice activities, and action-planning activities. The appendixes make up almost one-third of the document and contain the following: (1) an answer sheet for diagnosing sex equity interventions, (2) a summary of the implementation regulations for Title IX, (3) grievance and compliance procedures for enforcing Title IX, (4) sources of funding--examples of Department of Education funds, and (5) a glossary of terms relating to contracts and grants.
