| Abstract | This resource presents the functional effects of chronic disabilities in order to aid those persons who must plan environments usable by persons with disabilities. The guide does not concern architectural accessibility per se, but rather discusses designing the worksite to be usable by a disabled person. In the guide, drawings are provided for office (worksite 1) and factory (worksite 2) settings for each of the following disabilities: difficulty in interpreting information; limitation of sight; limitation of hearing; limitation of speech; susceptibility to fainting, dizziness, and seizures; incoordination; limitation of stamina; difficulty in moving head; limitation of sensation; difficulty in lifting and reaching with arms; difficulty in handling and fingering; inability to use upper extremities; difficulty in sitting; difficulty in using lower extremities; and poor balance. Guidelines are given for making the worksite usable by persons with each of these limitations. The guide also includes a bibliography and a list of suppliers of products mentioned in the guide.
