Abstract | Results of the seventh year of testing by the Pupil Assessment Program of the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction are presented. In 1982, objective-referenced tests in science, mathematics, and geometry were given to a sample of Wisconsin's public school students in grades 4, 8, 11, and 12. Students were also given the Comprehensive Tests of Basic Skills (CTBS) in mathematics, reading, and language arts. An overview of results includes the following: (1) in science, grade 11 students scored higher than grade 8 students on all test objectives; (2) in computation/applications, students maintained their achievement level; (3) in geometry and number sentences, a comparison of 1982 and 1979 scores shows no significant change in achievement level; and (4) scores of grade 4, 8, and 11 students exceeded the national average on the CTBS.
