AbstractDesigned for use by those who work with the disabled, this handbook explains and provides procedures for implementing the Lifelong Career Development (LCD) Model. (Designed for implementation at the community college level, the LCD model provides a competency-based approach to meeting the career development needs of disabled people and provides for a greater effort at networking or linking together services.) Presented first are an overview of the need for such a program and the efforts that went into its final conceptualization, methods, and materials. Following a description of the LCD model and its components, procedures are provided for program administration, needs assessment, program implementation, public relations, and team training. Part 3 contains 11 training modules for use by the LCD coordinator or team to train themselves, disabled persons, and those in various agencies and groups concerned about lifelong career development for the disabled. Included in the modules are instructions, activities, and materials for conducting each session. Following a discussion of LCD program evaluation, discussions are provided of two case studies from the major community college sites. Appended are the major instruments for use in designing and conducting an ICD program. (YMN)
