| Abstract | This introductory German course guide is intended to be used by classroom teachers in the primary grades. The course and materials are designed for teachers who may not have had any background in the foreign language; the tapescript of each lesson is therefore highly structured. They are intended as an experiential or enrichment component of the primary grades curriculum and not as the beginning level of a foreign language sequence. The materials have been organized into four units (Introduction, Colors, Numbers, and Body/Clothing), and each unit is divided into lessons with two levels of material, one for kindergarten and the other for grades 1, 2, or 3. In addition to the teaching guidelines and tape scripts, visual and worksheet-type materials, which are suitable for duplication, are included in each unit. (Author/AMH) |
