Abstract | At a colloquium held at Gent University in Belgium, educators from various countries presented papers on problems relating to educational research, educational policy, and teacher training. The first paper in this compilation to be presented at the colloquium concerns a clarification of the Unified Socialists Education Act which was the decisive factor for the development of mass education in Germany. The second paper describes the new organization in Finnish teacher education, consisting of Departments of Teacher Education that have been established at every Finnish university as part of the Faculty of Education. The third paper discusses the importance of social sensitivity as a factor in the teaching process. The final paper describes contemporary problems in education using Northern Ireland as an illustrative example. (JN) |
