Abstract	The impact of urbanization and industrialization on adult education in East and Southeast Asia was the subject of a conference attended by thirty-five East Asian adult educators and scholars. Conference objectives included the following: to identify the impact of industrial development in urban and rural communities and the related problems of education for adults and youths; to exchange information about adult information programs in newly developing industrial and urban communities; to discuss national strategies for adult and community education for the working population, housewives, out-of-school youths, and the aged; and to review existing programs and propose new projects promoting adult education in urban and industrial settings. Theme presentations and discussions focused on worker's education in industry, education for women in urban communities, non-formal education for youth in urban settings, and problems of the aged. Adult education programs in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, and South Korea were described. A special delivery on the mass media and adult education, case presentations on a young worker's community education project, and an adult education program for working women were also presented.
