Abstract	The colonial period in Mexican history, from 1519 to the Revolution of 1910, is the subject of the second in a series of three bilingual (Spanish-English) books designed to aid teachers in presenting the historical and cultural background of the Mexican people. The series, which lends itself to the Inquiry Method of teaching, includes illustrated text about colonial life and customs; the Roman Catholic church in Mexico; colonial government; significant events of the period; and famous figures in colonial history, including Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, Jose Maria Morelos y Pavon, Augustin de Iturbide, Antonio Lopez de Santa Ana, Benito Juarez, Maximilian, Porfirio Diaz, and Los Ninos Heroes. Follow-up activities include true-false quizzes, a time line, vocabulary exercises, identifications, puzzles, questions related to each page of text, a Spanish and Nahuatl pronunciation guide, and a glossary. Additional activities are suggested and a bibliography is provided. The book, which may be reproduced for classroom use, is suitable for grades 4-12. (SB)
