| Abstract | This paper summarizes and analyzes the views presented in the preceding group of five papers, focusing on important issues in educational administration in four countries. The author notes that the developed countries discussed (England, Canada, and Australia) all face the problems of declining student numbers, decreasing birth rates, public disenchantment with schools, general and teacher unemployment, poor media image, and militant unionism. Yet he notes that a different picture is painted of the developing nation of Sri Lanka where education is still seen by the majority as holding the keys to future prosperity and happiness. After summarizing the key points of the papers, he concludes that senior administrators in all countries agree that administrators feel caught in the middle and "it's a tough place to be."
