Abstract | Full abstracts of 232 documents on institutional and field service training for personnel in adult corrections are presented in this bibliography of items selected from the data base of the National Criminal Justice Reference Service. The citations are divided into six sections: (1) Institutional Personnel Training--documents describing the rationale, approaches, and techniques used in correctional training. Training guides, programs, curriculums, and audiovisual materials are also included. (2) Probation and Parole Officer Training--publications that describe the development of training programs, the use of paraprofessionals and volunteers, and the training needs of probation and parole officers. (3) Supervisory and Management Training--advanced training for both institutional and field service correctional administrators, including regional and state plans. (4) Specialized Training--inservice training programs for special conflict areas. (5) Training Program Evaluations--publications which assess the effectiveness of local and state programs, training skills and approaches, and program designs. (6) Higher Education Programs--regional approaches and the growing role of community colleges. Information about how to obtain the documents cited is included.
