| Abstract | Research on the problem of work disincentives as a factor in the rehabilitation of disabled individuals is the focus of the book. The first two chapters define the problem by identifying the four basic assumptions which have created program conflicts and discuss programs currently available. Chapters 3 and 4 examine the labor supply theory and present findings of studies, such as the Alabama Incentive study, as well as explore the effectiveness of the Beneficiary Rehabilitation Program. The final two chapters consider solutions to disincentives and conclusions from the research reported. It was concluded that, among other things, better management of current programs is needed and new guidelines for the basis of benefits need to be drawn. A 63 item bibliography is appended. (PHR) |
