Abstract	Strategies for encouraging positive interaction among adults are suggested. The objective is to help teachers and other adults who work with children to interact in more meaningful ways with other adults including teachers, parents, school volunteers, classroom visitors, and community members. Strategies are presented in five topical areas: 1) introducing interaction techniques, 2) recognizing silent signals, 3) setting aside classroom time for interacting, 4) encouraging interaction among adults involved in educating young children, and 5) improving written communications between teachers and parents regarding children's progress in school. Illustrations for each topic are presented in the form of cartoons and/or graphics. Adults participating in the interaction activities are directed to analyze various types of interactions, suggest ways in which specific types of interactions could be made more positive, identify non-verbal messages conveyed in a variety of ways including posture and facial expression, develop planning schedules which allot varying amounts of time to interacting activities, explain to parents and volunteers what is expected of them as class helpers during a simulated parent-teacher interview, and write a variety of model letters to parents and other adults who might be encountered in an educational setting.
