Abstract | Intended to assist Agency for International Development (AID) officers, advisors, and health officials in incorporating health planning into national plans for economic development, this fifth of ten manuals in the International Health Planning Methods Series deals with health facilities planning in developing countries. While several specific examples are provided to illustrate particular points throughout the text, the emphasis is placed on developing a conceptual framework useful as a model planning tool to be adapted to meet local needs and resources. Chapter 1 provides an overview of the area. Chapters 2-4 describe the preliminary assessment, field assessment, and planning processes. Focus is on the impact of geographical, climatic, and sociocultural factors on architectural design. Appendixes include a listing of publications with the most current data and sample assessment forms. A supporting document in the International Health Reference Series containing a literature review and annotated bibliography is available separately as CE 024 228. (YLB) |
