AbstractMaterials in this curriculum guide are designed to provide regular and special education instructors at the elementary school level as well as the industrial arts specialist-consultants with industrial arts activities to be used to enrich the elementary school curriculum. Topics in the guide include the following: a definition and a philosophy for the inclusion of industrial arts activities at the elementary school level; general goals for both the elementary school and industrial arts in the elementary school; objectives to stress with special needs students; ways of integrating industrial arts into the elementary school curriculum; and the implementation of career education through elementary school industrial arts activities. A major portion of the guide consists of projects and activities by grade level (K-6). Each project includes behavioral objectives, developmental tasks, integration of the project with other subject areas, how the project facilitates career education, a bill of materials, tools needed, and working drawings. Information sheets for use in an inservice workshop for elementary school teachers, layouts of sample facilities for conducting elementary school industrial arts activities, a suggested tool list, and an annotated bibliography are also included.
