| Abstract | Alcohol abuse has become the number one drug problem in the United States. In 1973 the California State Board of Education adopted guidelines for drug education programs in schools, and those guidelines can also be used with alcohol education programs. This document provides criteria by which individual schools, school districts, and communities can assess their alcohol education programs, and measure them against the California guidelines.
