Abstract | This compendium of seventeen papers discusses women's overall role in a full employment economy and their problems in fulfilling that role. It begins with a comprehensive summary of the authors' views and then presents the papers in six sections: (1) overview; (2) overcoming barriers; (3) support services and adjusted conditions; (4) education and employment; (5) key factors: tax treatment and media images; and (6) international comparisons. The titles of the papers in each of these sections respectively are (1) "Women's Stake in Full Employment: Their Disadvantaged Role in the Economy" and "On the Way to Equality"; (2) "The Legal Road to Equal Employment Opportunity: A Critical View,""Legal Remedies Beyond Title VII to Combat Sex Discrimination in Employment,""De Facto Job Segregation,""Women Workers, Nontraditional Occupations and Full Employment,""Underemployment of Women: Policy Implications for a Full Employment Economy," and "Lifetime Participation in the Labor Force and Unemployment among Mature Women"; (3) "The Homemaker, the Family, and Employment,""Economic Aspects of Child Care," and "Part-time Work"; (4) "Facilitating Full Employment of Women through Career Education,""Vocational Education," and "Apprenticeship"; (5) "Federal Income Tax and Social Security Law" and "The Impact of Mass-Media Stereotypes upon the Full Employment of Women"; and (6) "Working Women: European Experience and American Need."
