| Abstract | Seventeen articles focus on current research interests of anthropologists. The volume is part of a five-year project designed to identify interesting directions in physical, linguistic, archaeological, social, and cultural anthropology. Covering a wide range of anthropological subjects, the articles discuss a history of physical anthropology, problems of an anthropological bibliography, Mesoamerican writing, molecular evolution, linguistic analysis, language variants, kinship groups, paleolithic archaeology, African physical characteristics, pidgin and creole languages, cultural transmission, social and cultural anthropology in India, social stratification, anthropological studies of cities, human ethnology, children's play, human behavior, and the relationship between anthropology and demographic theory. Included are an author and subject index and a cumulative index of authors and titles in volumes one through five for use by anthropologists who wish to identify reviews of the same or related topics over the years.
