Abstract	For help in seeing persons more clearly, the editors asked individuals representing a variety of walks of life to contribute chapters. Insights into human development and social foundations are found in Part 1. Chapter 1 broadly outlines images of humankind. Chapter 2 deals with the problem of settings as they relate to the affective. Part 2 includes insights from a number of fields that might shed light on the affective. Persons with expertise in writing, art, the physical sciences, philosophy, the psychology of groups, and human behavior shared ideas on what is meant by the affective. Part 3 is a discussion of schooling that attempts to give consideration to the person as a feeling, valuing, growing being. Attention is given to means of describing what the schools are currently doing in the affective domain. (Author/IRT)
