Abstract | In its sixth annual evaluation report for fiscal year 1975, Hawaii's Advisory Council on Vocational Education concentrated on the subject of statewide planning for vocational education and focused particularly on four goals of the State Master Plan: responsiveness to employment opportunities, coordination and planning, quality and cost effectiveness, and continuous evaluation of programs. In approaching the planning process the Council recognized differences in the State's two school systems, the broad basic vocational skills provided at the secondary level through the Hawaii Department of Education, and the specialized occupational preparatory skills provided at the postsecondary level by the University of Hawaii colleges. Vocational education planning in both systems is reviewed and commented on in detail in the report. The appendix (65 pages) provides tabular data on Hawaii's secondary and postsecondary vocational education programs and accomplishments in fiscal year 1975, along with a summary of the four previous evaluation reports.
