Abstract | Since 1966 racial/ethnic data has been collected annually from all public elementary and secondary schools in New York State. This report presents such data for the 1974-75 school year. The tabular data include the: (1) students' racial/ethnic distribution for the State's major school districts of Buffalo, New York, Rochester, Syracuse, and Yonkers (individually and combined), for the rest of the State, and for the State as a whole; (2) distribution of black and Spanish-surnamed American students by location in the State; (3) percent distribution of public school students, by racial/ethnic origin, for the years 1970-71 through 1974-75; (4) number of schools and the number and percent of minority students in schools of differing racial composition; (5) number of schools and the number and percent of black and Spanish-surnamed American Students in schools of differing racial composition; (6) distribution of public school professional staff by racial/ethnic origin; and (7) percent distribution of public school professional staff, by racial/ethnic origin, for the years 1970-71 through 1974-75. Appendices distribute public school students and professional staff by racial/ethnic origin for each school district in the State. (NQ) |
